And I just so happened to have my DS. I was suprised to figure out you can recieve the signal 30 ft away from the store and the amount of content in which the service features. Including two full modes from tetris ds and an exclusive Metroid Prime hunters movie. I also got a chance to try games I didn't think of purchasing like True Swing Golf. Overall the service is pretty handy although many won't actually have DS's with them at the time. Check em' out. Perfect for iTunes album art.

I've been using it for a while now, hasn't failed me too much, the only time you may have to look to another source is when your looking for older CD covers. This engine usually produces the most recent album art from that artist, so when trying to find earlier releases you may come up empty handed. That is when you just use Google images.=P enjoy.

FindMyCover.Com

Pressing The Right Buttons

Next-Generation has an great write up on the Revolution controller, and exactly how it should be used, and why the way alot of peoeple keep potraying it is wrong. I have to agree alot with this article, sure playing a lightsaber battle would be cool, but I don't want to play a whole game like that. Games like that would lead to a very gimmicky feel.

The article is 6 pages long, a great read, here is a quick take from the article on how controlls could work out.

"Over Christmas, while I fretted over various things I should have been doing instead of enjoying myself, I chanced to look over a photo album showing my companion and her sister as little girls. Several pictures in, I spotted a pair of snapshots of her sister, aged perhaps four or five, trying to play Super Mario Bros. And you know what she was doing with the controller. That's not a question; you know what she was doing. She was jiggling all over, wrenching the controller in the direction she wanted Mario to jump. The film speed wasn't fast enough to catch her. You know you've done this. If you don't do it now, it's by training. And golly, what a waste – that your energy didn't do any good, I mean. And that you've probably programmed it out of your system by now. Because, heck. There's no way a button could capture what you wanted to do. If only tilting the pad a little further could have made that jump for you. If only twisting it around at the right moment had let you dodge that projectile. If only...

Well, heck.

Try this on for size. Imagine pressing "up" on the D-pad makes your character walk upward. Now imagine if pressing "up" and tilting the controller forward makes your character run. Tilting the controller back and pressing "up" will make your character tiptoe. If your character is running, and you bank the controller left, your character will feign to the left, while still going as full-tilt as he can, forward. And you do this all without pressing more than a single button.

Example two. Let's say that big, honkin' A button makes your sweaty man-warrior lash out with his arm. Hit it, he punches. Hit it and flick the front of the controller up slightly, he does an uppercut. Hit the button and rock the controller to the left, he does a right hook. And so on. Getting the picture a little?"
As you can see, very simple, very intuitive, and simple. You don't have to wave your arms all around, its a simple flick of the wrist, no you wont get tired, you wont break a sweat, which seems to be one of the biggest (and dumbest) excuses for people that are too hard headed to admit that the controller definatly is something to look out for. Well I suggest you read the full article when you have the time. Next Generation is a great site and they have really good shit, check it out.

Full Article can be found at the below link.
Next Generation - Revolution Pressing the Right Buttons

DualFX controller for PS2 A Revolution knockoff

I laughed quite a bit when i saw this one, ladies and gentlemen I present to you "The DualFX" stright from CES 2006. Companies are already trying to rip off the Nintendo Revolution. Look at the comparison folks, this is rediculous, people at the show said that it doesn't work all that well, I geuss Nitty has all the best ways patiented =P.

Well just thought I'd bring the whole topic back to mind. I know I sound like a flaming fan boy right now, but that right there is too much of a knock-off. Down to the very idea of using it as a fishing rod, which the big N, used as an example in their press releases, and even in the teaser video. Well I geuss you live and you learn, if you want to see what the Rev controller will be like, you can pick up the DualFX for 60$ sometime soon , although people at the show say its not worth the 60$ because its inconsistant. Enough of my ranting.

I geuss I'm going to update more often, Wordpress.com had me Piss-ed. type='text'>Dropping some Knowlage

Just thought id post something i posted on the forums... just my thoughts on what will be so revolutionary about the rev...

THERE IS NO VISOR... it would be too wierd, that would turn away around half the people tha were planning on buying the rev... the controller will have some new innovative features, .....

....the rev will have some cool technology INSIDE the system, proabably things like VERY VERY short loading times, Low energy consuption(already stated), quick startup times, things like this will make the system a revoluion when it comes to both performance (architecture), and gameplay(controller)

not to mention all the talk about it being VERY easy to program for, this will make the games better.
_________________

Not to mention the rumor of it beingable to broadcast to mulitple tv's wirelessly...this will add to the cool featured, and doesnt effect gameplay...as stated by Iwata himself from the E3 Press conference..

But, the advantage in our technology will also relate to areas that have no direct bearing on gameplay

nintendo isnt looking to ruin themselve, a visor would do exactly that.
<img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/9119750-112240308145634879?l=kydd.blogspot.com' alt='' The NintendoDS offers a great hint at the contoller, but the chances of anyone figuring it out are minimal because neither a dual screen or a traditional touchscreen will be used for the Revolution. The best leak so far has been the gyroscopic control rumor. This is the one! But, how will it be used? That's the key to the Revolution's very simple, fun, creative, and practicle, revolutionary controller.

My first comment is going to throw many people off, but I must tell you, continue reading! The Revolution will be the first to use a new innovative style of "touchscreen" technology. The touchscreen is one and the same with your television screen. The gyroscopic controller is very much like a pair of gloves, but not your traditional thought of a glove either. It's extremely comfortable and has gyroscopic controls. It will sense the movement of your hands and your finger tips. This way you can point and tap your fingers into the thin air in front of you as if you were touching the television screen. You're no longer sitting in front a monitor you're now interacting with it by "touching" it!

It's hard to imagine at first without seeing it, but the more you think about it the clearer the picture becomes. Before starting a game you must collaborate the controller to your position of viewing. You do this by a very simple system of "touching" the approapriate corner of your screen when prompted from where you are sitting. Also you must select which hand (right or left) will be the "control hand". Control schemes that tradititionally use buttons will transfer over to the NintendoRS (NRS) by assigning the task to finger taps. There are 10 buttons, one for each finger tip and thumb. Games that traditionally use analog control sticks will now use the movements of your hands. The best way to describe it is to explain how it would control a First Person Shooter (FPS). The "home" position is to keep your hands parallel in front of you. To control an FPS is as follows:

- To turn to your left move your right hand forward (towards the screen) and your left hand back (away from the screen).
- To turn to your right move your left hand forward (towards the screen) and your right hand back (away from the screen).
- To look up move control hand up (towards the sky) and opposite hand down (towards the ground).
- To look down move control hand down (towards the ground) and opposite hand up (towards the sky).
- To move forward extend index finger of control hand and "hold"
- To move backward extend middle finger of control hand and "hold"

This is an example of how basic controls from traditional style games will translate to the NRS. As you can see, nothing in terms of control will be lost and everything from todays traditional style will still be possible. The very interesting thing about the NRS is the software that is specifically designed to utilize this control. The number of possibilities this kind of 3D hand motion with finger tap controls allows is near infinite and absolutely amazing. I'll give you a couple of small examples not to reveal too much, but maybe in a certain game you will be held at gun point by an officer of the law and have to reach for the sky. The finger tip gyroscopes can sense their position relative to eachother as well as the console. This allows you to "grip" objects such as a pistol and use the index finger to "pull" the trigger. This with it's feedback (each fingertip can vibrate and the palms can vibrate as relative to the objects you "touch") is an experience so unique, so new, so innovative, so EXTREMELY KICK ASS, that I can't contain myself and must leak this. (NOTE: With these kind of sensor technology Nintendo is experiementing with allowing you to "grip" a "virtual controller" relative the game you are playing (NES,SNES,N64,GCN,NRS). Nothing can beat it. Traditional controllers are on their way out because touching is good, but feeling is better!

I hope this helps make sense of all the hints and rumors:

NintendoDS
Touching is good, but feeling is better!
Go beyond the monitor.
Revolutionary
Horsepower alone is the wrong direction.
How to play all past console games with a single controller.
"Virtual Console" ____ _ _______ __________ (fill in the blanks - with a "Virtual Controller".

Quotes:

"'The thing that I always find surprising, and certainly in the last year I've had wonderful opportunities to spend quality time with a number of our key third-party publishers, is when you sit down and share the innovation with them, just how excited they get," Fils-Aime said. "I saw it firsthand with DS, we're seeing it now with Revolution,'

He then elaborated further.

'Think about it - each of those controllers are different. How are you gonna play? That captured some of the imagination of what our controller needs to be able to do, and certainly as you get into the meat of that type of innovation with the developers, their eyes truly light up because they start to imagine what's possible with that kind of configuration, which is vastly different than a sheer horsepower kind of game.'"

"...there will be leaks..." - Miyamoto

Source: Anonymous

source: toe-knee_toke @t ign's board

3D immersion, A new ad.

This ad was sent to Phalanx, check it out..

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; There has never been a real picture revealed yet, but there are many who claim to have used, seen, or know how it works. There are many mockups outhere, but there are only some that appeal to me.

Ever since Aries made his way to Brokensaints blog, and rambled about the rev, and the preassure sensitive controller, and being able to "feel" things like heat, and other effects though the controller got me thinking. Then Iwata said at the pressconference at e3 05 something like, when you pick up the controller you will "feel" the difference or something of that sort.

The the mockups that catch my eye are the ones that are split into 2 parts, one half of the controller in one hand. the one seen here.

This seems like a good idea, if executed correctly, it would allow for different types of force feedback, for example, in a racing game if hit on the left side, it could cause the part in the left to jolt upward, and the right hand to go down ward, almost like the feedback on a arcade steering wheel.

I have a gut feeling that this type of controller could work, but i dont think its as consumer friendly. Not only that, but Iwata kept saying its going to be so simple, its gonna make your mom want to play, having to manage a controller in each hand, doesnt seem too simple to me, it may appeal the core gamer, but not to the non-gamer.

In a recent interview with Reggie, he says the developers are happy because the controller is soo configurable, the only thing that comes to mind there is a touchscreen..but Nintendo said this isnt true, so my mind is going crazy trying to figure it out.

Here is a sketch i pulled from a post on Phalanx's blog.

this looks like a good idea, but not so practical once again..well only time will tell my friends, im sure there will be a leak sooner or later.
Thanks for reading.

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

An anonymus source sent this one in, hes been wrong before, i wouldn't be surprized if this is a fake, although i like the catch phrase, so i made it my tag line. Although there are somethings that are fakes, many things are backed by Nintendo, the ON video could possibly be backed by nintendo....theres evidence...the N-game is real, but there are many fakes.

The on video was something that took the nintendo gaming community by storm, many knew that the headset in the video wasn't the REVOLUTION, but was symbolic, a representation of things to come, a big clue.

But shortly after, the creator of the video released a statement basically saying, im a fake, I did it to keep Ninendo in the hype, and want to cause an uplift, yadda yahda...

But a buddy of his is the who blew Nittys cover.... with this statement..
(taken from DNRS)

Now, Yugulator wrote in his post:

A friend of mine translated it for me:

I´d like to send regards to my colleague Pablo Belmonte, who surprises me more each day. And those who said that one person couldn´t have done this... guess they were wrong. Maybe a person couldn´t have done it, but he did it in a week.

He had prepared more, but his directory got deleted and he only managed to prepare this in the short time left.

This whole thing could have been more credible? Sure, but thanks to Perry Kaplan it had to be rushed, before it all fell apart.

END QUOTE

...Perry Kaplan...Perrin Kaplan... VP for marketing and corporate affairs at Nintendo of America..

So nitty could possibly have had this badboy planned the whole time!...this proves that some of these thigns that are N-game esque are possibly real, but you gotta spot the fakes... I'll try and keep the reals from the fakes here on this blog...

Id also like to point out that, once again IGN has something fishy going on, they reported the ONvideo, and now they report only ONE, OF THE MANY MANY MANY! fake Nintendo Rev mockup controllers... here....i dont know what to say but this is starting to become one hell of a conspiracy... Good Job nintendo.

Id like to give HUGE CREDIT to DNRS, this guy has his shit together, i got most of the info from this post from his site... i suggest you check it out .

DNRS

Next Generation Gaming.

The Future of Gaming.
As we all know the next generation of gaming is approaching quickly, although technology has increased rapidly over the past couple years. This would indicate that we will see a dramatic difference in the gaming experiences of the past generation and this upcoming generation right? That's what it would seem to be, but as the next generation systems are being slowly revealed I've come to the conclusion.
The next gen of gaming will have a jump in technological specs, but deliver the feel of past generations.

  YEA MORE STUNNING VISUALS!
A jump in graphical presentation is a great thing, where would we be without graphics? We would still be running DOS commands to this day. A jump in graphical presentation will indeed change the gaming experience, but only to a certain extent. Along with graphical changes, the game complexity will increase, allowing more in-depth levels and intricate game design. This is all great, but what happens when gamers get tired of the never changing style of gaming, stale gameplay methods, and when the stunning graphics wont be so stunning anymore.

We Gotta' Make Some Changes
Yes folks, we need change, we need a change in user interaction with the games. Input is the key, we PLAY games, we don't WATCH them. The way we interact with games, will change the way we feel about them, and allow new experiences everytime we play a game.

The Big Shots.

-Microsoft
Microsoft is doing exatcly what you'd expect a computer company to do, make a bigger faster, more powerful gaming machine.

-SONY
Sony seems to be also taking this approach, enhancing the games we play by horsepower.

-Nintendo
Nintendo is taking a different path this time around, Nintendo is trying to innovate, and possibly recreate the way we play games, while at the same time enhance the tech specs. Nintendos' new console codenamed "Revolution" will attempt to do exactly that, cause a gaming revolution.

Conclusion.
I believe my point is obvious. I'm not sayin' Nintendo will pwn the next generation, I'm not saying that games are getting more and more the same. All I'm saying is, horsepower isn't enough to win the race in the long run. When game systems are implanted in our heads in the year 2xxx we will interact fully with games, when we walk, the characters walk, when we move they move, at least this is the image we have in out minds since the first time videogames were created. I'm not saying we should all put on VR gear and go back to the powerglove days, all I'm trying to say is we need change, and the change will be necessary to continue enjoying videogames to their full extent.

Portable Gaming

Ok, so your wondering, what to look for in portable games. Well, in this little article I am determined to give you some good games that you should definitely pick up the next time you go to your local game store. Not only will I just give the titles, but I'll give my own personal opinion.

What to look for in a Hand held game.
Well lets face it, some people think handhelds are garbage, they also believe that the games for them are shallow and weak.Although we are just starting to experience the first gen of 3d handhelds, let us not forget that there are many good 2d titles on the market. So what am I trying to say? Don't only look for graphics. Graphics should be bumped down to 2nd or maybe even third priority on your things to look for in a game, weather it be a handheld title, or a console title.Although at times it may be hard, since looks are the first thing you see when you look at a game, always give a game a chance, unless of course its made by EA Games (lol).

Here is just a numbered list of my priorities when searching for a GBA/DS game.

Story Line/Plot- The theme of the game has to interest me.

Game play/controls - Must be easy to pick up and play.

Game length - A good juicy title that will last me more than 10 mins. But isn't fustrating.

Graphics - Easy on the eyes, 2d/3d as long as it looks good.

Replay Value - Am I going to play this again?

Well this is my list, and of course, this is when I actually have money, so price wouldn't be on the list =D.

Ok. I got my game, but I don't want to finish it and never play again.
Now portable gaming is something to be played at small intervals, not like a console or PC game that you may sit down and play for hours and hours on end, although I do find myself doing so with portables every once and a while! You want to get something that can be played bit by bit, meaning you could save at any given time without loosing progress.

There are many who treat Portable titles like console titles, some may be as lengthily, but don't expect the same type of game complexity in Perfect Dark for your GBC, as the Perfect Dark for your N64.Dont make this mistake, portable games are usually short around 7-10 hours of play and sometimes ALOT less, although there are a few that will give you more bang for your buck, always keep the replay value in mind also, this can add many hours to your play time.

Alright enough with the talking, give me some titles!
Here are a couple games that I have successfully completed in the past, most are for either the GBA or the DS. I'm not trying to be biased, but they are the only portables available on the market at the current time.

Here are the good ones!

The Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap -GBA (highly Recommended)

Metroid: Fusion - GBA

Metroid: Zero Mission - GBA

Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green - GBA

The Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords/A Link to the Past - GBA (highly Recommended)

Super Mario 64DS - DS (highly Recommended, a revamped classic)

These are some of my favorites, I always have these on hand, although I have completed them many times through, I am still working on getting all the extra little power-ups and sidequests. So they do have some good replay value.

OK OK!..
